How to look after Sensitive Skin

How to look after Sensitive Skin

When I was completing my diploma at Beauty School, every week we practiced various facial routines, using different brands on each other to increase our skill set. Now whilst this sounds like bliss, my skin was not having a good time. It wasn’t too long before I had fundamentally created a sensitive skin landscape that would take me some time to repair.
Sensitive skin usually presents itself in response to something it doesn’t like. It may be skincare products, particular ingredients and treatments, it can also be caused by ongoing issues influenced by genetics, age, or environmental factors.

Some typical signs of sensitivity appearing on the skin include redness, dryness, flakiness, breakouts and often the sensation of “burning”. Inflammation may also be present across the complexion. It can be hard to choose the right products that are compatible with skin sensitivity, especially ones that won’t cause further irritation, that’s why I’ve compiled a skincare routine featuring the Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses range to help a fellow sensitive sister out. As always with sensitive skin and using new products, please do a small patch test before applying in large amounts.

Step 1: Cleanse: 1000 Roses Cleansing Foam

This fluffy Cleansing Foam is infused with nourishing Rosehip Oil. Not only does it help to sweep away urban pollution, dirt, and makeup, it also helps to nourish the moisture barrier of our skin.

Step 2: Tone/Mist: 1000 Roses Floral Toner

Heat across the face is uncomfortable, but thankfully doesn’t have to be part of your daily routine. Lightly mist the Floral Toner across your face after cleansing, as Rose Distillate and Hyaluronic Acid help to bind moisture to the skin and provide a cool burst to lock in hydration.

Step 3: Exfoliate: 1000 Roses Pearl Exfoliator

Forget what you may have heard, most sensitive skin still needs a light exfoliation. Using a physical exfoliant may seem daunting, however the 1000 Roses silky-smooth Pearl Exfoliator is here to elevate your routine! Soft Mineral Pearls are suspended in a cooling jelly base that is smooth to apply over the skin and gently removes congestion and dull skin cells. Depending on your skin type you may like to start off with exfoliating once a week only.

Step 4: Mask: 1000 Roses Rosewater Mask

A great addition to any skincare routine, this luxurious gel mask heroes the best of Hibiscus Extract and White Tea to reduce heat and leave your complexion glowing.

Step 5: Serum: 1000 Roses Absolute Serum

A creamy serum that has been carefully blended with ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid to soothe and nourish sensitive skin. Lightly pat into the skin when applying. Note: We don’t exfoliate and mask every day so if you aren’t exfoliating or doing a mask in your routine this step becomes Step 3.

Step 6: Eye Care: 1000 Roses Eye Revive Contour Gel

Our petal soft Contour Gel helps to hydrate the fragile skin around the eye contour. The formulation is nice and lightweight in consistency, allowing the gel to absorb quickly into the skin.

Step 7: Moisturiser: 1000 Roses Beautiful Day Cream

This satin soft cream delivers essential hydration and glow to your complexion. Rosehip Oil and Magnolia Extract nourish sensitive skin for a flawless complexion. Note: Doing your routine in the PM? Simply sub our Day Cream for our Heavenly Night Cream instead. 😊

Step 7A: Extra Hydration and Glow: 1000 Roses Moroccan Beauty Oil

If like me, your skin is more on the dry side and soaks up your moisturiser screaming for more, level up your skincare by adding 2-3 drops of the Moroccan Beauty Oil to your chosen moisturiser. Rosehip and Argan Oil will hold hands and see your skin through to hydrated bliss!
